In this article, you’ll learn how to create, edit, and automatically send emails in Onepage when a lead submits a form.

Email Options Overview

In Onepage, there are two types of emails:

  1. Automated emails to leads
These emails are sent directly once a lead submits a form. You have two options:

    1. Autoresponder immediately sends a prepared message, for example a welcome note or first information. You’ll find setup instructions further down in this article.

    2. Double Opt-in sends a confirmation email where a lead verifies their form entry. You can find instructions on how to set up Double Opt-in here.

  2. Email notifications
With this option, you (or your team) will be notified via email whenever a new lead enters the CRM. Step-by-step instructions for enabling lead notifications can be found in this guide.

To send emails, your project needs an email template.

Creating an Email Template

In your opened project, select the Emails tab on the left to view your email templates.

Click "Create new template" in the top right, enter a name, and confirm with the Create new template button.

The email template editor will now open, where you can customize your template as you like.

Editing an Email Template

Sender

To send emails, a sender must be set up. You can connect one of the following email services:

Click on the respective service to open the step-by-step guide!

Adding an Element

Hover between two elements until a gray plus symbol appears on the left.

Click the plus symbol to choose and insert a new element.

Edit an Element

Hover over an element until a rectangular button with six dots appears on the left.

With this button, you can:

  • Delete or duplicate elements

  • Adjust design (via Style) - you can also open this option directly by clicking on the element

  • Move elements - hold and drag the button to reposition the element

Text can be edited directly in the editor. Select the text you want, and a white formatting menu will appear automatically.

Note that email templates for Double Opt-in must contain a button assigned with the Double Opt-in action.

Adding Variables

Variables let you personalize content, e.g. automatically insert the lead’s first name into the email.

To insert a variable:

  1. Hover over the text element until a button with curly brackets appears on the right, then click it.

  2. Under Variable, enter the internal field name of the form field. Optionally, you can add a default value if the lead didn’t fill out that field.

📌 Tip: If you’re editing the email template for a form’s final step (Autoresponder or Double Opt-in), clicking the curly bracket button will show you all available form fields.

Testing and Saving the Template

To test your template, click Send to in the top right and send a test email to your Onepage account email address.

If you’re satisfied with the result, save the template by clicking the blue Save button at the bottom left.

Setting up an Autoresponder

Step 1: Open the form

Go to the subpage containing the desired form.

Step 2: Open the final step

Hover over a form element until the Edit form button appears in the top right. Click it to open the overview of all steps and actions. Select the final step under After submit. In the settings, you’ll see all actions that are automatically triggered after submission. Click Add action.

Step 3: Add Autoresponder

Select Autoresponder to add it as a new action.

Step 4: Select email template

Click on Autoresponder to open the Select template dropdown. All active email templates of the project will be listed here. Choose the desired template.

If you haven’t created any templates yet, the dropdown will be empty. You can create a new template directly by clicking + Create template in the dropdown menu.
