Adding fields in the OneSoil web application

🔎 How to select fields on the map

  1. If you're adding fields for the first time, click the Fields tab in the main menu, and then Add Fields.

  2. You'll see a list of three options: Select on Map, Draw Fields, and Upload File. Click Select on Map. (Note: If you've already added fields, click the green '+' button at the bottom of the field list, followed by Select on Map.)

  3. Zoom into the map until you see field borders appear. Click your field, and it will automatically appear in the field list to the left.

  4. Select all of your fields on the map one by one and click Save to finish.

If you're physically located next to the field, click the geolocation icon on the right side of the screen and let the web app determine your location. This will show you all the nearby fields on the map and simplify the process of finding and adding your field(s).

You can also search for a field by its coordinates. Just open the Fields, type the field's coordinates in the search bar in the right upper corner of the map, and click Enter.

👨‍🌾 If the field borders aren't accurate, you can easily edit them.

👨‍🌾 All of the fields will also be saved in the OneSoil Scouting mobile app after you add them in the web app.

🖌 How to draw fields

  1. If you're adding fields for the first time, click the Fields tab in the main menu, then click Add Fields and —> Draw Fields. If you've already added fields, click the green '+' button at the bottom of the field list, and then select Draw Fields.

  2. Find the field you're looking for and delineate it using your mouse. Every click creates a point and connects to the previous point with a line between them.

  3. You can move the points using your mouse to make boundaries more accurate.

  4. If you want to delete a point, right-click it.

  5. To finish, click the first point and click Save.

  2. To upload a file, drag it into the browser window or select it from your computer by clicking Select Files.

  3. If your file contains information about crops, planting dates, and harvest dates and yields, you can import this data as well. Please check out this article to learn more about uploading files with field borders and history.
