Overview

There are a couple of reasons why a YouTube video may not play as part of your TV slideshow. It can be a difficult issue to pin down sometimes; the steps below should eliminate common causes. If you're still experiencing issues after trying these fixes, a support member will be happy to help you!

Re-arrange the order of your Slideshow

Unfortunately, sometimes video slides that are placed as the first or last slide in your Slideshow won't automatically play, or will cause your slideshow to stop circulating through the slides. Simply try moving the video slide to a different position in your slideshow and that should resolve the issue. Don't forget to click Save Changes at the bottom of the slideshow edit page!

Amend your site settings

Unfortunately, this is a side-effect of an addition Google made to the Chrome web browser permissions. Your default settings prevent automated sound being played because Google presume it is some form of advert or pop-up. You need to alter a setting on your TVs (or the devices powering them) to enable sound and video to play automatically.

  • Open a OneUp TV slideshow by going to oneupsales.tv on your display.

  • To the left of the URL box at the top of the browser, click the small icon (usually a lock symbol).

  • Click Site Settings from the options that appear.

  • On the new page, scroll down to Sound and change the option to Allow.

  • Sounds should now play uninhibited from your slideshow!

Why did they make the change?

Google acknowledged that many users around the world felt frustrated when they opened a website only for videos and sounds to begin blaring out without their consent. It provided an unpleasant experience, so Google decided to put a stop to it by preventing websites from auto-playing videos and sounds. Unfortunately, this also includes OneUp - we cannot play your celebration music or videos without your explicit consent.

Check where your video is hosted

There are tons of places you can upload videos online, however sometimes we aren't able to access videos due to where the video is being hosted. We recommend using YouTube or Vimeo to host your videos.

Check the privacy settings on the video

If your video has been set to private, OneUp won't be able to access the video. You can make sure videos don't appear publicly, but can still be played on your slideshow, by setting them as unlisted.
