How to Create a Customer Segment for Exporting Emails & Emailing Subscribers

You can create a “customer segment “ in Shopify which allows you to email a group of people.

This is useful if you want to email customers who purchased a subscription product.

NOTE: You must have set up Customer tagging in Ongoing already for this to work. . Click here to learn how to add customer tagging in Ongoing.

In this example, this is the customer tagging I've set up inside Ongoing which means anyone who purchases a product associated with that subscription group will get tagged with this.

How to Create Customer Segment in Shopify

  1. From Shopify ➡️ click Customers

2. Click Filters

3. Select Customer tags

4. Select "contains this exact tag"

5. Select the customer tag (please keep in mind yours will be different😉)

This is just an example, please do not use this customer tag unless it's what you use.

You can see if you have customer tagging set up by going to:

Ongoing --> Subscription Groups --> Settings --> Customer Tagging

6. Click Apply Filter

7. Click Save Segment

8. Name the customer segment so that you can use this again in the future.

PRO TIP: To access it, just click on the Customer Segment: dropdown bar & select it.

To export the email list, you can just click on More Actions --> Export
