Shipping Protection Insurance Causes Double Shipping Charges on Shopify Checkout - Solution

Are you seeing the shipping insurance protection prompting an extra shipping charge on Shopify checkout? This is causing double shipping rates to appear on checkout when there really is only one subscription product?

Luckily, this can be easily fixed by making that shipping insurance product a digital product, here's how!

Issue:

On checkout, you might see that there is a shipping method popping up for the one time purchase of the insurance (shipping protection) PLUS a shipping rate for the subscription product. This can cause friction on checkout and lead to abandoned carts.

Solution:

On the Shopify product details page, you'll want to mark the shipping protection (insurance) product as a digital product. This will make Shopify skip over the shipping charges part on the checkout for it.

Once you change this, you can test it out again on checkout to make sure the one-time purchase shipping method falls off and there should only be one shipping method.
