  • Removing a Product from the Subscription Collection: If you remove a product from the subscription collection, it does not cancel existing subscriptions. This action simply makes the product unavailable for new subscriptions on your store, meaning the subscription options will no longer be visible on that product page.

  • Impact on Active Subscription Orders: When you remove a product from the subscription collection (auto collection syncing), it does not affect active or existing subscription orders. By default, even if a product is no longer accepting new orders, recurring orders that already exist will still be fulfilled. However, there are certain conditions where a subscription order will not be created:

  • Product is Marked as Draft or Archived: If the product is marked as draft or archived, the system should not create a subscription order for that product.

  • Product is Out of Stock: Typically if the product is out of stock, a subscription order should also not be created. However, if the shop allows selling a product even when it’s out of stock, Shopify will continue to process subscription orders for that product. Conversely, if the shop does not allow selling out-of-stock items, then no new subscription orders will be created.

  • Inventory Tracking: If a shop does not track inventory, Shopify will adhere to these inventory rules when creating subscription orders. This means the behavior around subscription orders will align with how the shop has configured its inventory settings. If the product is out of stock, whether or not a subscription order is created will depend on the shop's inventory settings.
