Using the form designer in jmc Office is a great way to create professional-looking student info forms, custom report cards, and standards and benchmarks report cards for your families. With customizable options, you'll be able to incorporate any piece of data collected through jmc in a form that automatically fills with the most up-to-date information from the database!

Check out these features available in jmc Office Form Designer > Student Info Forms, Form Designer > Report Cards, and Form Designer > Standards and Benchmarks Report Cards!

Adding Items to your form

Items in the list on the left-hand column may be dragged onto the form. Once on the form, these items may be resized, relocated, edited, and duplicated. Items correspond with data stored in the jmc database. For example, select and place the "<<Legal Name>>" item and when your form is loaded for a student, his/her legal name will appear in this spot on your form.

Selecting an Item

An item on a form may be selected by clicking on it. Once an item is selected, you can move it using the arrow keys, duplicate the item, or delete it from your form.

Selecting Multiple Items

Items may be selected on the screen by either clicking and dragging over the items or by holding down the "Ctrl" key (Windows) or "Cmd" key (Mac) while clicking on items. If multiple items are selected and you wish to deselect one or more of those items, hold down the "Ctrl" key (Windows) or "Cmd" key (Mac) and click on the items you wish to deselect.

Relocating an Item

Any item on the screen may be relocated by simply dragging it to a new location. The currently selected item(s) in the form may be relocated by using the arrow keys on the keyboard. Each time an arrow key is pressed the selected item(s) will move one pixel in the appropriate direction.

Aligning an Item

Items may be aligned with other items by noting the horizontal and/or vertical position of the selected item in the lower-left corner of the design screen and shifting/relocating the item to match coordinates with the other items.

Aligning Multiple Items

Item(s) on the form may be aligned by pressing Ctrl-arrows (Win) or Shift-Ctrl-arrows (Mac) on the keyboard. The alignment achieved will vary depending on the direction of the arrow and the items selected.

Resizing an Item

Item(s) on the form may be resized by selecting the item and dragging it on the lower right corner of the item.

Deleting an Item

Item(s) on the form may be deleted by selecting the item and pressing the "Delete" key on your keyboard. Select multiple items and press the "Delete" key to delete multiple items.

Editing an Item (Text Formatting)

Add some pizzazz to the form by using different text formatting options for your items. Select an item and right-click (control-click) the item to pull up a window showing the following options:

  • Font and Font Size

  • Bold, Italic, and Underline

  • Alignment

  • Frame

  • Height and Width

  • Top Position and Left Position

Choose the font size, alignment, and frame options from the drop-down list, and reposition items by entering the top and left axis in the fields. Available fonts will vary from computer to computer. If a form settings file is to be shared by more than one user, please ensure that all users have the necessary fonts installed on their computers.

Zoom

Get a better view of your work by using the zoom feature. Click the "+" button in the upper left-hand corner of the page to zoom in on an area of your form or click the "-" button to zoom out and get a view of the form in its entirety.

Undo

Need to correct a mistake you just made? No problem. Click the "Undo" button to undo the most recent action.
