Now that you have created courses, loaded them with students, and manually scheduled students with special circumstances, it's time to schedule the remaining students into the appropriate sections for their registered courses. The "Schedule Students" feature streamlines the scheduling process and saves time by scheduling grade levels or all students at once. Simply select the timeframe and group of students to place into sections, specify any necessary criteria, and let jmc take care of the rest!

To let jmc bulk schedule students into course sections, log in to jmc Office and go to Schedules > Develop > Schedule Students.

Step One: Select a radio button from the "Students" box to narrow the range of students for scheduling "By Grade" or for "Selected Students".

Step Two: Select a radio button from the "Timeframe" box to schedule students for the entire year or for a specific term.

Helpful Tip: Since the "Schedule Students" feature can balance class loads across semesters, we recommend doing your master schedule for the “Entire Year.”

Step Three: Place a checkmark in the following checkboxes to apply the criteria when when bulk scheduling students into sections.

  • Year Courses-Prefer same period all year: keep the student in the same period all year long for year courses

  • Require Quarters of same course to be back to back: if a student is in 2 or 3 quarters of a course, schedule the student into Qtr1/2, Qtr2/3, Qtr3/4, Qtr1/2/3, or Qtr2/3/4

  • Require 4 Quarters of same course to be back to back and same period/teacher: schedule the student into Qtr1/2/3/4 selecting sections taught by the same teacher and in the same period all year

  • Require 4 Quarters of same course to be back to back and same period: schedule the student into Qtr1/2/3/4 selecting sections in the same period all year

  • Require Trimesters of same course to be different terms: if a student is in 2 or 3 trimesters of the same course, schedule the student into Tri1/2, Tri2/3, or Tri1/2/3

  • Save any existing Grade Data: in the rare times where letter grades exist for a student before rescheduling, preserve those grades after rescheduling

  • Balance by Genders: schedule students into sections with the best possible gender balance

Step Four: Click the "Process" button to begin scheduling students into classes.

Step Five: Click the "OK" button in the pop-up to proceed with scheduling your students or click the "Cancel" button to return to the previous page.

Fun Fact: Status messages will display below the "Process" button as the scheduling tool is working to keep you informed of its progress.

Step Six: Click the "OK" button in the pop-up after the scheduling is complete to return to the "Schedule Students" screen.

Step Seven: Click the "Print" button to print the results of the scheduling process.

Helpful Tip: Have you accidentally scheduled students into courses? Head to the Drop Courses page to remove students from all sections of a selected course.
