Certain scheduling situations may require you to copy or move a whole section of students into another section or course. Instead of transferring them one by one, jmc makes it quick and easy with the copy/move students feature, saving you valuable time. Select a course or section from the current or prior year and with just a few clicks, copy or move them into an entirely different section or course.

Go to Schedules > Develop > Move Students in jmc Office to copy or move students from one course or section to another.

Step One: Select the appropriate action from the "Action" drop-down list to begin moving or copying students.

  • Move Students to a different section: bulk transfer a group of students from one course section to another, removing them from the original section

  • Copy Students into another section: bulk copy a group of students into a different course section while keeping them enrolled in the current section

Helpful Tip: The "Copy Students into Another Section" action is a perfect time saver for scheduling students from a prior year's section (e.g., last year's Period 1 Algebra) into a course and section for the current year (e.g., this year's Period 3 Algebra II), eliminating the need to select students individually.

Step Two: Select a year (if copying students), a course and a section from the "Original Section" drop-down lists to identify the group of students to copy or move.

Step Three: Select a course and section from the "Destination Section" drop-down lists to specify where the students will be copied or moved.

Step Four: Click the "Prepare to Move/Copy" button to view a confirmation of your move or copy selection.

Step Five: Click the "Proceed" button to perform the move/copy or click the "Cancel" button to discard your changes.

Fun Fact: Upon completing this task, a message will appear indicating the number of students successfully updated to inform you that the action has been performed.
