Midterm grades provide administrators, students, and families with valuable insights into student performance at the halfway point of a term. In jmc Teacher, educators can either calculate midterm grades using the Scores gradebook or enter them manually on the "Midterm Grades" page. Define midterm cutoff dates, review and edit grades, add comments, and submit final midterm grades to the office. Whether you're calculating grades automatically or entering them manually, jmc makes it easy to ensure timely and accurate grade reporting.
If you are using the Scores gradebook to calculate midterm grades, first head to Scores > Assignment Scores to define your midterm date.
Step One: Select a course from the "Courses" drop-down list and select "Midterm" from the term drop-down list to define the midterm cutoff date.
Step Two: Enter the date of the midterm in the field provided or simply click the calendar icon to establish the assignment cutoff date for midterm grades.
Fun Fact: Assignments dated on or before the midterm date will be included in the midterm course grade.
Helpful Tip: Place a checkmark in the "All Courses" checkbox to set the midterm cutoff date for all courses at once, saving you the time of marking them individually.
Step Three: Click the "Save" button to save the midterm cutoff date.
Fun Fact: Once the midterm cutoff date is set in the Scores gradebook, midterm grades will automatically populate on the Edit > Midterm Grades page, so you won’t need to enter them individually!
After establishing your midterm date, head to Edit > Midterm Grades to review or edit midterm grades, add comments and send them to the office.
Step One: Select a course from the "Courses" drop-down list to review or edit midterm grades for the selected course.
Fun Fact: If you've calculated midterm grades from the 'Assignment Scores' page, the results will automatically appear for each student. Review the grades, add comments, and submit them to the office!
Step Two (optional): Select the appropriate grade from the drop-down list next to a student's name to manually assign a midterm grade to a student.
Fun Fact: If a student's grade is manually selected, a checkmark will appear next to the course grade indicating that any calculated grade has been manually overridden.
Helpful Tip: To revert a manually selected grade to a calculated grade, simply remove the checkmark and click the "Save" button.
Step Three (optional): Select a comment from the "Comment" drop-down list to include a comment with the midterm grade.
Step Four: Click the "Save" button to update manually selected midterm grades and comments.
Step Five: Repeat these steps for each course to update all midterm grades.
Helpful Tip: Click the "Print" button to print a hard copy of the midterm grades for future reference.
Step Six: Click the "Send Midterm Grades to Office" link in the "Quick Links" section to submit midterm grades to the office.
