Teachers using the "Assignment Scores" gradebook to monitor student progress based on benchmark results, as reported on a standards-based report card, can easily review and customize the weight assigned to assignment scores through the Standards and Benchmarks page in jmc Teacher. To do this, select the course and standard, then access the associated assignments linked to the benchmark. From there, click the benchmark to adjust the assignment weights, ensuring accurate calculations of student benchmark results.

In jmc Teacher head to Scores > Standards and Benchmarks to set standards and benchmark weights.

Step One: Select the course from the "Course" drop-down list to access standards for a course.

Step Two: Select the standard from the "Standard" drop-down list to view the benchmarks and assignments associated with the selected standard.

Helpful Tip: Need to associate a benchmark with an assignment? Head to Scores > Categories and Assignments, select the appropriate assignment and click the "Benchmark" button to select a standard and benchmark for the assignment.

Step Three: Click a benchmark link to edit the weight of a benchmark and the assignments associated with a benchmark.

Step Four (optional): Enter a weight in the "Benchmark Weight" field to adjust the weight of a benchmark if you are calculating benchmarks to an overall standard result.

Step Five: Select the appropriate option from the "Assignment Weights" drop-down list to calculate assignment scores to a benchmark result.

  • Equal: all assignments will be weighted equally to calculate a benchmark result

  • By Points: all assignment weights will be based on the number of points an assignment is worth

  • User-Defined: assignment calculate a benchmark result based on a percentage defined by the teacher for each individual assignment

Step Six: Click the "OK" button to update benchmark and assignment weight settings for the selected benchmark.

Step Seven: Repeat these steps for each benchmark and course to establish benchmark weights for all courses and assignments.
