When transitioning from MARSS to Ed-Fi, Minnesota schools will need to incorporate previously collected MARSS data into the new Ed-Fi system to prepare for Ed-Fi reporting. Avoid re-entering your state reporting data from scratch by importing all special education and program history records from the previous year's MARSS files into the appropriate Ed-Fi fields simply with the click of a button!

In jmc Office, head to Minnesota > Program and Special Education History > Import Program and Special Education History to import MARSS data to Ed-Fi.

Step One: Place a checkmark in the "Special Education" checkbox to include "begin" and "end" dates for Special Education History records in the MARSS to Ed-Fi conversion.

Step Two: Enter your first day of school in the "Begin Date" field to convert all MARSS program history data from enrollment records created or edited over the summer to Ed-Fi.

Helpful Tip: To ensure all records are imported from the "Begin Date" through the current date, leave the "End Date" field blank.

Step Three: Place a checkmark in the appropriate program history checkboxes to import the data associated with your special education records and if you want to exclude any program history data elements from the import, simply remove the checkmark(s) from the checkbox(es).

Step Four: Click the "Import" button to convert program and special education history data to the Ed-Fi format for the current school year.

Step Five: Click the "Print Import Summary" button to save or print the import summary as a PDF, and use the "Cancel Import Summary" button to return to the import page.

Step Six: Review the imported special education history records in the "Import Summary" to identify individual student records that need further editing.

Helpful Tip: Head to the "ProgramHist" and "SpEdHist" tabs on the View Student Data page to edit records for individual students.
