In 2016 the Minnesota Legislature passed a statute "to ensure all students, including students within student groups, receive a high-quality education." As a result, your school district is required to submit state and federal demographic information supplied by you and your family as outlined by the Minnesota Department of Education.

To begin entering your Ancestry Data, log into the jmc Family portal and navigate the menu tree to Register for 20xx-20xx.

Step One: Click the "MN Ancestry Form" link to access the MN Department of Education "Ethnic and Racial Demographic Designation Form".

Step Two: Review the information at the top of the viewing field to verify your student whose demographic information you will be entering.

Step Three: Select the radio button that best answers each of the questions in the viewing field to indicate ethnicity data.

Helpful Tip: Place your mouse in the viewing field and scroll to reveal all options!

Step Four: Click the "Next" button to advance to the next student in the family or to finish the demographic data submission.

Fun Fact: A note saying "You are now finished with the MN Ancestry Form. Thank you." will appear upon completion of the survey.

This data will now appear in jmc Office on the View Student Data screen under the "Race/Ethnicity" tab.
