If you're tired of managing stacks of paper forms during registration, jmc Office has a solution for you! Our Custom Fields feature allows you to create digital forms that can collect important information during online registration. This includes questions about permission for posting student pictures on social media, or whether your child can be administered pain relievers, among others. By using Custom Fields, you can eliminate the need for physical forms and greatly reduce the likelihood of lost or incomplete information. This not only simplifies the registration process but also helps ensure that all necessary information is collected accurately and efficiently.
In jmc Office, head to File > Define Custom Fields to get started!
Step One (optional): Click the "Import" button to import custom fields questions from the previous year into the current year view.
Helpful Tip: If you have created custom fields questions in prior years, this feature is a huge time saver as the questions from last year will be copied to this year for you!
Step Two: Click the "+ Add Custom Field" button to add a new question for families to answer during registration.
Step Three: Place a checkmark in the "Current Year" checkbox to include this question in the current year's registration process.
Helpful Tip: Simply remove the checkmark from the "Current Year" checkbox to keep a question on your custom field list but remove it from online registration for the year.
Step Four: Enter a question in the "Name" field to define the data you intend on collecting during the registration process.
Step Five: Enter information in the "Additional Information" field to provide families with additional instructions related to the custom field question.
Step Six: Select "Text", "Numeric", "Date" or "Yes/No" from the "Data Type" drop-down list to specify the type of answer families can submit during the registration process.
A few helpful tips:
Enter a character count in the "Length" field when selecting a "Text" "Data Type" to limit the length of a text response.
For "Yes/No" questions, choose to skip to a specific question on your queue if the answer is "No" by selecting the appropriate "skip to" question from the drop-down list.
Step Seven: Select the appropriate radio button to define a "Permanence" option:
"Year-Specific": clears the field after the school year, requiring families to enter a result during the online registration process each year
"Year-Independent": carries over from one year to the next so families can update information as needed or maintain their answer from the previous year
Step Eight: Click the "Update" button to add your custom field question to the list or click the "Cancel" button to discard your entry.
Helpful Tip: Click the "Pencil" icon to edit an existing custom field question or click the "Trash Can" icon to delete a question.
