In Minnesota, a preschool program’s funding source determines how you set up a student’s record on the View Student Data page. Assign each student to the correct grade 0 subgroup, mark their record as state reportable, and indicate whether they are MARSS funded. Setting this up accurately ensures your school receives the correct funding and that student data is shared smoothly with the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE).
To get started, open the View Student Data page in jmc Office.
Step One: Enter the student’s name in the Find field to begin updating their record based on program funding.
💡Helpful Tip: For a quicker search, select 0 from the Grade drop-down list to filter just preschool and kindergarten students.
Step Two: Select the subgroup from the Kdg Group drop-down list that matches the student’s preschool program to place them in the correct early education subgroup.
Fun Fact: By default, the MARSS checkbox on the General tab is already selected so the student record will be included in state reporting.
Step Three: Go to the MARSS tab and click the Edit button to begin updating the student’s MARSS record.
Step Four: Uncheck the Include in MARSS checkbox for students enrolled in Early Childhood and Family Education (ECFE) or School Readiness (SR), which are not MARSS funded.
💡Helpful Tip: Check the Include in MARSS checkbox for students enrolled in Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) or Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE), which are MARSS funded.
Step Five: Click the Update button to save the student’s MARSS record or the Cancel button to discard your changes.
Step Six: Click either Save button to apply your changes, or leave the page to discard them.
✅ That’s it! You’ve updated the student’s record for accurate early education funding in jmc Office.
