Dropbox is a file hosting service and collaboration space.  Onna integrates with Dropbox Business' API to extract all related data and metadata from entire company Dropbox accounts and/or specific user accounts.

This article describes our integration with Dropbox Business, which is a type of enterprise account that Dropbox offers.

Integration Features

Type of Account Needed
To enable a Dropbox Business collection, you'll need an admin account on Dropbox.

All files are synced, including, but not limited to:

  • Files
  • Related Metadata (create date, folder path, and revision id)

Note: Currently, Onna does not collect files created in Dropbox Paper.

Onna Sync Modes

We currently support two syncing modes - one-time and auto.

  • One-time is a one-way sync that collects information only once.
  • Auto-sync means that Onna will perform a full sync first and will keep the data source and Onna in mirrored sync.*

Data Exports

Yes, you can export data and metadata in eDiscovery ready format. Load files are available in a dat file, CSV, or custom text file.  This is only available for Dropbox Business.

How to Guide

For this integration, you'll need access to Onna's admin panel which is available to our Enterprise users.

Once within the admin panel, click on 'Enterprise Sources' and click 'Add new source'. Select Dropbox Business

Select "Connect". This will take you to the authentication screen within Dropbox.

Once you sign in, using an admin's credentials, you will be redirected back to Onna. Now you'll be asked to name your source.

Once you've named your source and added dates if needed, click 'Configure'

The account will begin synchronizing. This process gathers information regarding the Dropbox account so that in the following Configuration screen, you'll see information on groups, folders and users in Dropbox. Below is a sample message you'll see in Onna.

Once it has synchronized, you can continue the configuration.

Select the Folders to Sync including the option for Users folders

Click 'Select Groups' to continue the configuration. Note that you must select groups that have access to the folders you've selected.

Next, map the users on Dropbox Business to users on Onna. This determines who can see and search which data sources. This mapping can be changed later. Then Select "Save". This will redirect you back to the list of Enterprise Data Sources.

Select the menu on the data source you just created and select Sync.
