When you buy bitcoin, you can choose where your funds settle after the trade. Our system handles the settlement automatically based on the destination you select.
Settlement destinations
Multi-Institution Custody (MIC) vault — your bitcoin is transferred to your MIC vault after the trade settles. There is no transfer fee for this movement.
Trade account — your bitcoin settles automatically in your Trade Wallet.
If you don't have a MIC vault yet, you'll be prompted to reach out to our support team to upgrade your account.
How it works
You place a market order and select your settlement destination.
Once the market order is complete, a transfer request to your selected destination is created automatically.
The first time you settle to your MIC vault, our team will complete a video verification with you as part of the withdrawal process. Depending on when verification is completed, settlement may take from a few hours up to a few business days.
After your first settlement, transfers are approved automatically and are typically signed within about 15 minutes.
Good to know
Settlement timing is subject to Bitcoin network conditions and business hours, and may take longer on weekends.
