Order Tracking Settings

This article covers every setting available in the Order Tracking configuration. Access these settings from Order Tracking > Settings (under Track in the sidebar) in your Onward merchant dashboard.

General Settings

Go Live

The master switch for Order Tracking. When enabled:

  • Onward begins monitoring all shipments for your store.

  • Tracking events are pushed to Klaviyo as shipments progress.

  • Shipping exceptions are detected and reported.

  • Delivery stats are synced to Klaviyo customer profiles.

  • The Track Page becomes active on your Shopify store.

When disabled, all tracking activity pauses. No events are pushed to Klaviyo, no exceptions are detected, and the tracking widget on the Track Page will not display live data.

Tip: Configure your Klaviyo event toggles before going live, so events start flowing to exactly the right flows from day one.

Klaviyo Notifications

This section lists all 15 tracking events that can be pushed to Klaviyo. Each event has its own toggle, giving you granular control over which shipment milestones and exceptions trigger Klaviyo flows.

Important: This section is only active when Klaviyo is connected. If you haven't connected Klaviyo yet, you'll see a message: "Connect Klaviyo in Account Settings > Integrations to configure these events." All toggles will be grayed out until the connection is established.

How Toggles Work

  • Enabled: The event is pushed to Klaviyo every time it occurs. Any Klaviyo flows using this event as a trigger will fire.

  • Disabled: The event is not pushed. Klaviyo flows using this event will stop receiving new entries. Existing queued messages are not affected.

You can toggle events on or off at any time. Changes take effect immediately for future shipment events.

Recommended Configurations

Full visibility (default): Keep all events enabled. Build Klaviyo flows for the events you want to act on, and leave the rest as data you can query later.

Minimal notifications: If you only want to notify customers at key moments, consider enabling just:

  • Onward Shipment In Transit (or Confirmed)

  • Onward Shipment Out for Delivery

  • Onward Shipment Delivered

  • Onward Delivery Error

Disable label-related events and intermediate statuses if you don't plan to build flows for them.

Exception-focused: If your main goal is proactive problem detection, prioritize:

  • Onward Fulfillment Stalled

  • Onward Shipment Stalled

  • Onward Shipment Stuck

  • Onward Delivery Error

  • Onward Attempted Delivery

Track Page URL

This is the URL of your "Track Your Order" page on Shopify. It's automatically set when Onward creates the Track Page during setup.

Default format: https://your-store.com/pages/onward-track

This URL is used in:

  • The Onward order confirmation email (if the tracking link is enabled).

  • Klaviyo event properties (track_page_url) for use in your flow templates.

In most cases, you won't need to change this — it's configured automatically.

Display Track Link in Emails

When enabled, the Onward order confirmation email includes an "Order Tracking" section with a link to the customer's tracking page. This requires:

  1. Order Tracking to be live.

  2. A valid Track Page URL to be set.

If both conditions are met, the email will include a branded tracking card that links the customer directly to their shipment status on your Track Page.
