Due to new government regulations, all accounts will need to complete the Twilio Registration Form to set up text capabilities in Open To Close. These regulations now require brands (businesses) to register their phone numbers to campaigns, which verify the type of texting service that these phone numbers will be utilizing.

Why is Business Registration required for everyone?

In an effort to cut down on spam text traffic on their networks, US-based carriers including AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon are blocking texts sent from businesses that have not registered their phone numbers. Registering your Open To Close business numbers will let major carriers know that you are a trusted business and deliver your text messages. If your business is not registered, your text messages will not be delivered.

How do I set up my Business Registration for Twilio?

Start by logging into your Open To Close account and locate the pop-up box in the lower left-hand corner of the screen. This is the prompt to complete the registration.

If you do not see this box and have not completed the registration, please reach out to our support team to have this prompt reset.

Select “Register” and a right-hand panel will open. These are the form details that are required by Twilio to complete the registration.

EIN Number

You will be asked to enter the EIN number for your business in the registration process. If you do not already have an EIN number then you can apply for one here.

Users that cannot set up an EIN will need to use a different registration process for a Sole Proprietor campaign. If that is the case, you will need to submit your SSN instead of the EIN. Please note that there is a slightly higher registration fee for Sole Proprietor setup in Twilio.

IMPORTANT:

This is a secured form so any information submitted will adhere to our strict security measures in Open To Close.

Website Opt-In Language

When completing the form, you will be asked to confirm that you have included opt-in language on your website and anywhere else you are collecting contact details. This language is used to verify that contacts are opting in to get your text notifications and know how to opt-out as needed.

Sample opt-in statement:

"I agree to be contacted by [Your Business Name] via call, email, and text. To opt-out, you can reply 'stop' at any time or click the unsubscribe link in the emails. Message and data rates may apply."

If you do not have a website, you can add your Facebook Business page instead. For Facebook Business pages you will need to include the opt-in language as a pinned post on your page to ensure it follows the compliance guidelines.

Completing the Registration Form

Registration is only required for the account owner if your registration is set up with an EIN, so all phone numbers added to that account will fall under that registration campaign.

If you do not have an EIN set up and use the Sole Proprietor campaign, you can only associate one phone number to that campaign. Accounts that use this Sole Proprietor setup will need to complete the registration process for each phone number in their Open To Close account.

There is a one-time registration fee that all accounts will incur with this setup. We have included the cost range that Twilio advised on their site, as this is not a fee on Open To Close’s side. This is a direct fee from Twilio, and we anticipate the fee to be around $20 for most users.

Please Note:

Once this fee is processed by Twilio, it will be added to your next Open To Close invoice.

Once the form is submitted, we will take that information and register your campaign in Twilio. The timeline for registration varies and we are solely dependent on Twilio for this update to be completed.

Important:

There is no guarantee that your texts will go through if you do not set up the registration for your account, so please take some time and do this registration as soon as possible.
