Why do I need to give OPENLANE Power of Attorney?

Power of Attorney allows OPENLANE to act on your behalf to resolve title issues

Updated over a week ago

The power of attorney is a statement of fact that allows OPENLANE the ability to execute and sign on any required documents for titling purposes on behalf of the buyer or seller.

Without granting OPENLANE power of attorney for the buyer or seller, the title turn-around time would increase greatly because the title and supporting documents would need to be returned to a specific company or person to be signed.

Also, in the case of a lost title, we can start the duplicate process immediately without sending documents back and forth to be signed. This is important for independent sellers that are trying to buy on our platform too. If we have a title “in-house” that has been resold by an independent seller, we can turn that title the same day.

Please note that OPENLANE cannot notarize the form on your behalf. Only the buyer or seller can notarize the power of attorney form.
