Closing a Tab and Receipts

How to swipe to close, what happens with auto-timeouts/end-of-night closes, and where to find your receipts in the Tabs section.

When you’re ready to head out, closing your tab is just as quick as opening it—swipe to close in the app and you’re done. Most charges finalize in near real time. Some restaurants choose to automatically time out inactive tabs; there’s also a system-wide close at the end of the night, so if you forget, you won’t leave anything hanging.

Receipts for all your visits live in the Tabs section of the app, organized and easy to find later for expense reports or memory lane. Reopening a tab after it’s closed isn’t supported—if you decide to keep the night going, just start a new one. If something looks off on your final total, talk to the venue; refunds and voids are handled directly by our restaurant partners.

Close out

  • When you’re finished, swipe to close your tab in the OpenTab app.

  • Some venues auto-timeout inactive tabs; OpenTab also performs a system-wide close at end of night.

Speed

  • Charges process in near real time after you tap Close Tab.

Receipts

  • Find all receipts in the “Tabs” section of the app.

Reopening

  • Reopening after close isn’t supported. If you need to add something, open a new tab.

Refunds/voids

  • Handled by the restaurant. If something looks off, speak to your server/manager; they can adjust, void, or refund.
