How to Access the Setting

To exclude staff from a shift:

  1. Go to the Department section from the left menu.

  2. Open the Shifts tab.

  3. Click the edit (pencil) icon next to the active shift you want to modify.

  4. In the shift edit screen, navigate to the Exclude tab.

  5. Select the staff members who should not work in this shift.

  6. Save the changes.

How the Exclude Setting Works

Staff selected in the Exclude tab:

  • Are not included in the automatic scheduling process for the relevant shift.

  • Continue to be included normally in scheduling for other shifts.

This setting is valid at the department level and affects only the schedules created within the relevant department.

Usage Scenarios

The Exclude setting is typically used when:

  • Certain staff should not work specific shifts.

  • Restrictions are required due to physical suitability, skills, or role distribution.

  • Specific staff need to be excluded from night, long, or special shifts.

Impact on Scheduling

When the Exclude setting is active, the system:

  • Automatically excludes the selected staff from the relevant shift during scheduling.

  • Prevents assignments that would violate scheduling rules.

  • Enforces this rule as a hard constraint.

  • Enables more controlled and accurate shift planning.

As a result, shifts are scheduled only among suitable staff members.
