In General, Clinician β Patient confidentiality is to be respected β this is legally binding in most circumstances.
Exceptions to this would be:
1. When the Clinician deems there is an imminent risk of the patient hurting themselves or someone else.
2. If you are seen here through TAC or Workcover then technically, those insurers own the patient files.
3. If there are family law or other issues that emerge or in certain circumstances the Court can subpoena the files.
4. If the patient is a minor then issues of risk can be communicated to the Parent or carer.
