Completing KYC (Know Your Customer) can take a few days to confirm, so please don't worry if you don't get confirmed immediately. If, after a few days, you are still waiting to hear back, feel free to contact us.

In this article, we will be covering the following:

  • What is KYC, and why is it important?

  • What are the KYC statuses, and what do they mean?

  • How to complete KYC step-by-step

What is KYC, and Why is it important?

We use KYC to verify our customers' or clients' identities and financial profiles. It involves collecting and verifying personal information such as name, address, and ID documents to prevent financial crimes and protect companies from risk.

Why is this important?

  • Financial institutions and regulated industries require KYC to comply with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regulations.

  • It helps to protect their financial safety and prevent fraud and identity theft.

  • Ensures that companies verify their customers' identities and prevents criminals from using stolen identities to conduct illegal transactions or launder money.

  • KYC also helps companies avoid legal issues and costly fines and creates a more secure financial system.

Now that we understand KYC better, we must move into what different KYC statuses are currently available with Opulous and what they mean.

What are KYC Statuses, and What Do They Mean?

Opulous uses securitize to track the KYC of our customers. There are currently seven KYC statuses: None, processing, updates required, manual review, verified, rejected, and expired.

It is important to know that if your KYC status is anything other than verified, you cannot purchase an MFT or claim rewards. We advise you to monitor your KYC status closely. Now you know what to expect when looking at your KYC in the securitize terminal, we can move into how to complete your KYC!

Completing your KYC

STEP 1: Log into or create your Securitise account here using the same email address you used to purchase your MFT.

STEP 2: Select portfolio and then select verify your identity. You’ll need your passport or driving license to complete the verification process.

STEP 3: Select your investor type. For most, it will be individual, then continue. You’ll then be prompted to add a photo of your passport and will have to scan your face.

STEP 4: Once completed, you’ll be prompted to add your address and then need to fill in your personal information. Following this

It’s important to note that KYC verification can take up to a week to verify from our partners securitize.

Once your KYC status is verified, you can begin the claiming process for your MFT.

If you need to update your KYC, follow the steps above without creating an account. If you have issues with your KYC, you can contact securitize support by emailing investorsupport@securitize.io.
