What Is Opting-in, And Why Do It?

Opting in on Algorand allows a wallet on Algorand (ASA) to send and receive tokens and assets (NFTs) on the network. You must opt-in to send or receive assets on Algorand, as well as be able to stake or take part in other Algorand-based activities. Opting in is essential to access the full range of features and benefits of the Algorand blockchain.

Opt-ing in enables you to receive specific assets in your wallet. We operate on the Algorand blockchain and use Pera Wallet to store assets. You must opt-in or hold a Pera Wallet to receive your MFTs.

For example, to receive your MFT, you must opt-in to that MFT.

Pre Opt-in Checklist

Before opting in, it’s best practice to do some simple checks to ensure your opt-in succeeds the first time. Those checks are as follows.

How to Opt-in For MFTs Using Pera Wallet

Now let’s get into the step-by-step on opting for MFTs. You can find the list of MFT codes below the steps. Replace the section [[ADD MFT CODE]] with the MFT code without the square brackets.

STEP 1: Open your Pera wallet using your mobile device and select the account you want to opt-in with.

STEP 2: On the lower right-hand side of your screen, you’ll see a ‘+’. Select that and type in the following: [[ADD MFT CODE]].

STEP 3: You’ll see another ‘+’ button next to Mona Lisa in the list. All you have to do is select that ‘+’ button and then press ‘Approve’.
