Title Register Status Icons

A short guide to the icons Orbital Witness shows next to a title to indicate the currency of its Title Register.

Wherever a title appears in the app — on the map, in the title panel, in the document library, or in a title-number tooltip — a small icon sits next to it. The shape tells you where the register came from. The colour tells you how current it is.

The icons (what they mean)

Source

Shown when

Cloud with upload arrow

You uploaded it

A register copy was uploaded manually by a user in your organisation.

Document with a tick

HM Land Registry

An official copy of the register has been purchased from HMLR through the app.

The colour states (how current it is)

The colour is driven by the register’s issued-on date and, for ordered copies, by whether the registered owner still matches the latest public data.

State

Colour

Meaning

Fresh

Dark grey

Register was issued within the last 3 months and the owner matches public data.

Stale

Amber

The register’s issued-on date is more than 3 months old. The data is still readable, but you should consider re-ordering before relying on it for completion.

Out of date

Red

The register is out of date and a different owner has been detected in the latest public data. Re-order before proceeding.

Pulse (animation)

A short pulse animation (1.5 seconds, four times) plays when the register is over 3 months old or when an owner mismatch is detected. It draws your eye on first load, then settles.

Threshold definition: “over 3 months” means the issued-on date is at least three calendar months before today.

Putting shape and colour together

The combinations you will actually see on screen:

  • Folder, dark grey — title is on the current matter. (No age signal here; purchase status is shown by the other icons elsewhere in the row.)

  • Cloud, dark grey — uploaded register, issued within 3 months.

  • Cloud, amber — uploaded register, issued over 3 months ago.

  • Document-with-tick, dark grey — official HMLR copy, issued within 3 months, owner matches public data.

  • Document-with-tick, amber — official HMLR copy, issued over 3 months ago, owner still matches.

  • Document-with-tick, red — official HMLR copy with an owner mismatch detected against the latest public data. Treat as out of date regardless of issue date.

Hover for the full message

Hovering any of these icons shows a tooltip with the plain-English status. The messages are assembled from these phrases:

  • “Register purchased.” or “Register uploaded.” — the base state.

  • ” Issued on date is over 3 months ago.” — appended when the icon is amber.

  • “Register out of date, new owner detected in latest public data.” — appended when the icon is red.

So a fully aged, mismatched official register will read:

“Register purchased. Issued on date is over 3 months ago. Register out of date, new owner detected in latest public data.”

Quick rule of thumb

Grey — recent. Amber — older. Red — re-order for new owner.
