There is a wealth of information and features available on Orbital Witness. The downside of this is that sometimes the software can appear cramped when you're using it on a small screen. We've put together some tips to avoid this until we are optimised for smart books, tablets and smartphones.
Update: Orbital Witness now automatically optimises for your screen size, plus you can now hide title list to view more of the map. Despite these updates, these tips may come in handy for particularly small screens.
Refresh (F5). Clicking F5 will literally refresh the software to fit the available space. This is particularly useful when changing the size of your Google Chrome window, for example when splitting the screen.
Full screen mode (F11). Google Chrome itself can sometimes take up valuable room which could be used for Orbital Witness! Go into full screen mode then hit refresh to make use of all the screen real estate.
Zoom out on Chrome. By zooming out you can fit more Orbital Witness on the screen, remember to refresh the page afterwards. Customise your zoom by either pinching the mouse pad, or clicking the Chrome ellipsis (top right) then adjusting to < 100%.
Alter Windows Display Scale. Many laptops set the default zoom on your computer to 125% or 150%, but software like Orbital Witness are optimised for 100% zoom. You can adjust this in your Windows Display settings, more info. Careful though, this will adjust the zoom for everything on your screen!
Pro-tip: you can use these little tricks to perfect the zoom level when creating a composite site plan. Taking a snapshot creates an image of whatever is visible on the screen.
