The formatting of shareholder or member names may be specified by regulation, meaning that the beneficiary of the shares may not be the named shareholder. This may apply for trusts, SMSF and nominee structures.
Where shares are held on trust by trustees or an executor you may like to record the name of the trust in the 'Alias' field against the shareholder. This keeps the formal legal shareholder name for the compliant company share register and presents the more familial name (alias) to the shareholder.
