A funding round (or investment round) is an event where a company raises money from investors in exchange for shares in the company. Companies may conduct multiple funding rounds over their lifetime.

To create a funding round on Orchestra, you will need to be logged in and have access as a company administrator to make any changes. From your dashboard, click β€˜Share register’ from the menu on the left of the page and select β€˜Funding rounds'.

Existing funding rounds

On the next page, you will see a list of each of the existing funding rounds. Each funding round has a name and a description of that round. You can edit the name and description of each existing funding round by clicking on the name.

Creating a new funding round

To create a new funding round, click 'Create funding round' in the top right of the page. Enter the name and description of the funding round and click 'Create'. When generating any new share issues you will be able to select a funding round to assign to transactions.

Other uses for funding rounds

Funding rounds are a great tool for labelling other transactions too. They enable you to group transactions and identify them in your transaction history for future reference. For example:

  • ESOP exercises

  • employee share offers

  • conversion of convertible notes

  • conversion of SAFE, etc.
