The shareholder continuity test is used by New Zealand companies to carry a loss forward.

Administrators can download a simple shareholder continuity dataset within Orchestra, highlighting where shareholding changes have occurred between years.

Important disclaimer

Orchestra’s shareholder continuity report download is a basic dataset highlighting the changes in the total number of shares held by each shareholder from year to year in your company.

This dataset should not be interpreted as a final shareholder continuity report as you need to factor in additional information such as the voting rights of each share class (if multiple exist), and doing a look through to the beneficiaries of a shareholding.

You will need your full transaction history in Orchestra to see year on year changes. If your historical share transactions have not been added to Orchestra, please email us.

Downloading the report

Visit your menu option for Share register > Shareholders.

  1. Click the 'Download reports' button

  2. Select the 'Shareholder continuity data' option

  3. Select your company balance date month

This is the first phase of our continuity report and we would appreciate any feedback on what other features company administrators would like added to this tool.
