Summary
If you've been transferred to our new network and have a phone service, you may need to configure you phone and modem for it to work. This article helps you:
update your phone and modem settings so that they're compatible on the Origin network
configure your BYO modem with your phone device
configure your Origin-supplied modem with your phone device
Good to know
Your modem and phone device work together for your phone service to work. This connection uses the internet to make and receive phone calls. This technology is called Voice over the Internet Protocol (VoIP).
If you are using a modem that was purchased through Origin, your modem should already have these settings pre-configured within the modem. But if you are experiencing issues making and receiving calls, you can follow the guide below to reset your phone connection.
If you have a BYO modem, your modem may have different settings to work with your previous internet provider's network. Even though your Origin phone service is active, the modem has yet to be configured to work with our network.
Configure your phone
Connect one end of the telephone cable to the PHONE port of your modem and the other end into your phone device
Open a web browser like Google Chrome or Safari on your computer and enter your modem IP address into the address bar. This information is usually found on the label behind or underneath your modem
Log in to the device. Your log in details are usually on a label on the back of your router
After you’ve logged in, find the phone settings.
