An Energy Happy Hour gives you one free hour of up to 35 kWh of electricity at a time you choose (except 4pm-9pm). We’ll credit your account for the cost of the electricity used during that hour.

Making the most of your Energy Happy Hour

The more you use, the more you save! Make the most of an Energy Happy Hour by using that time to:

  • Put on the washing machine and dishwasher

  • Cook a meal in your electric oven or on the electric stove

  • Charge your EV

  • Vacuum.

You may even like to save your Energy Happy Hours for summer or winter when you use electric heating or cooling the most. Keep in mind that an Energy Happy Hour expires 12 months after you've earned it.

Aim to book your Energy Happy Hour at a time when you're not using electricity from your solar system or battery.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I book from 4-9pm?

Our peak times of 4-9pm are a period of high electricity demand as people return home from work and start cooking, heating or cooling the house, or turn on the TV. Peak times put demand on the grid and require us to use higher cost electricity generation tools that drive up prices. By excluding 4-9pm, we make sure electricity prices remain as low as possible.

How do I check my Energy Happy Hour has been credited to my account?

You can see the Energy Happy Hour credit in the Credits section on your next bill. While the credit is usually applied the day after your booking, there can be delays while we wait to receive your meter data. If your bill is issued while we're waiting for your data, the credit will appear on your next bill.

Important information

  • Energy Happy Hours can only be redeemed against electricity accounts that have a smart meter and are not for an embedded electricity service.

  • Energy Happy Hours will expire if they aren't used - you have a year after earning one to use it.

  • If you close your electricity account with us, any unused Energy Happy Hours will be forfeited.
