We’ll breakdown the average data usage of some of these everyday activities for you. Usually the higher your viewing quality is, the more data you use up.

Social Media – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & YouTube

Scrolling through your social media feeds doesn’t generally use a lot of data (about 1.5MB per minute). When you start watching videos, looking at photo galleries and messaging - that’s when your internet usage can increase to 2.5-3MB per minute, or roughly 3GB per month.

Online gaming can consume from 10 MB to 50 MB an hour. The big data usage happens when you are downloading games before you get stuck in. There can be a big download range from 5GB to 190GB depending on your game’s size.


Video chat & conferencing – Zoom

With more of us working from home and communicating online, platforms like Zoom are on the rise. If you’ve got your picture quality set to high, you’ll be using more data.
