What to expect during your nbn® appointment

Know what's involved on the day of your appointment so you're prepared

Depending on the nbn fibre connection type at your address, here’s what you can typically expect on the day of your appointment.

Fibre to the Curb (FTTC)

Your nbn appointment will likely take place inside and/or outside your home or business.The nbn connection box will be installed inside your home, (note: there may be some drilling required). You will need to connect your modem to the nbn connection box and your telephone to the modem

Fibre to the Premise (FTTP)

The technician will install and test the nbn equipment both inside and outside your premises on the scheduled day. The technician will provide recommendations regarding the optimal placement for installing the nbn connection box within your premises. Don't hesitate to discuss your available choices with them. You will require an Ethernet cable and a compatible modem for your new connection box to work.

Fibre to the Node or Fibre to the Building (FTTN/FTTB)

Your nbn appointment will likely take place inside and/or outside your home or business.Your modem will need to connect to a wall socket activated by nbn co, and your telephone will be plugged into your modem.

Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC)

Your nbn appointment will likely take place inside and/or outside your home or business. Your nbn utility box will be installed outside of your premises, and the connection box will be installed inside (note: there may be some drilling required). You will need to connect your modem to the nbn connection box and your telephone to the modem.

Fixed Wireless (FW)

Your nbn box appointment will likely take place inside and/or outside your home or business. An antenna will be installed on the outside of your premises, and a connection box will be installed inside. There may be some drilling required.Your modem will need to be connected to the nbn connection box, and your telephone will either be plugged into your modem or one of the existing/new wall sockets depending on the connection you choose.

What happens after your nbn appointment?

You'll receive an SMS advising you that your broadband service is ready. Once you're received this confirmation, you can follow these  steps to set up your modem  and get connected to your internet.
