Summary

  • For large business sites, your Metering Coordinator (MC) or Metering Provider (MP) typically handles meter installations, so you don't need to arrange it yourself.

  • If your site needs a new meter, make sure you have a contract with Origin, and inform us if you have your own MP or Direct Metering Agreement.

  • Intellihub is Origin’s preferred MC for large businesses.

More info

Do I need to arrange the meter for my large business site?

In most cases, installing a meter at your site is handled by your MC or MP, who will arrange it for you.

How to arrange a meter for my site

If the site you’re moving into has an existing meter, you might not require a new meter installation.

If you need a meter installed, you’ll need a signed a contract with Origin beforehand.

You can find your own MC or we can appoint one for you.

If you have your own MP or a Direct Metering Agreement (DMA) in place, let us know as soon as possible. This helps us to get your metering correct from the start and we can make sure your contract is set up with the appropriate rates.

To set up a new site that may require a new meter, contact your account manager or email us.

What is a Direct Metering Agreement (DMA)?

A Direct Metering Agreement (DMA) is an arrangement between an energy provider, like Origin, and a customer where the provider installs, owns and maintains the meter at the customer's site. Under this agreement, the provider typically instals, monitors and services the meter. This method often applies to large energy users or complex sites.
