Visual safety inspection (VSI)

In Queensland, the law requires a visual safety inspection when a property has been disconnected from the main source for more than 30 days.

This typically only applies to houses and duplexes.

When power is switched off at a property it is sometimes only done so superficially – i.e. not disconnected from the main power source. This allows for another energy supplier to connect in easily when a customer switching providers. In these instances, a VSI is not required.

If you know the power at the property has been on recently, it’s unlikely you’ll need a visual safety inspection.
