At Origin, we’re committed to keeping your personal information secure. Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is one way we do this.

What is MFA?

MFA is a security process which uses an additional verification measure on top of standard personal or account identifiers to help confirm your identity.

MFA is more secure than standard authentication because it requires multiple forms of verification, making it much harder for unauthorised users to gain access.

When we use MFA

Logging into My Account: MFA is enabled for customers with an Origin internet service.

For customer calls (optional): We can set up a password (either a special 4-digit number or phrase) for when you call us to add another layer of security to your account.

Logging into My Account with MFA

Every login: Every time you log in to My Account via web browser or the Origin app, you will need:

  • Your username and password

  • A one-time passcode (OTP) sent to your email or via SMS to your mobile. This OTP is only valid for 5 minutes

Session timeouts: For your security, your session will automatically time out after one hour. You will need to re-authenticate to log back in.

What to do if you suspect a scam

If you think someone is trying to access your My Account without your permission:

  1. Contact your bank immediately to discuss blocking your cards or monitoring for suspicious activity
