Short answer
If your LPG supply stops working, you may have run out of gas or be experiencing an outage. This article covers what to do if you have:
LPG bottles or tanks
LPG that’s piped to your property (metered LPG)
LPG bulk hot water, with or without unmetered appliances (e.g. for cooktops, BBQs, heating and cooling)
If you have registered life support equipment with us, call 13 35 74.
What you can do
LPG bottles
LPG bottles
Check the gas levels in your bottles – you might have run out of LPG. To do this:
pour hot water – not boiling – down the cylinder while your gas appliances are in use
run your hand down the cylinder – it will feel cool to the touch at the level of the gas
if your gas level is low or your gas bottle is empty, place an order online
If your gas level is good, check your gas appliances. Do any or all of them fail?
If one appliance fails, turn it off and contact a licenced gas fitter, who can look into the problem for you
If all appliances fail, the problem may be with the connection from your installed LPG to your home. Call 13 35 74 and we’ll help
LPG tanks
LPG tanks
If your tank has a gauge, check the gauge to see the per cent of gas that’s left. If you don’t have a gauge, check your levels by following the hot water test. See LPG bottles (above) for instructions.
