Set up Centrepay

Centrepay allows automatic payments of your energy bills from your Centrelink allowance. This is deducted before your payment gets to you.

Short answer

Centrepay is a voluntary and free payment option available to Centrelink customers, who can use it to set up regular deductions from Centrelink payments.

The quickest way to set up or change a Centrepay deduction is through your Centrelink account online – but if you’re an electricity or natural gas customer, we can also set it up for you.

What you can do

Set it up through Centrelink online

You can set up Centrepay deductions for your Origin account through your Centrelink account online. See Add a new Centrepay deduction on Services Australia’s website – it provides a step-by-step guide.

  • Your 12-digit Origin payment reference number (your BPAY® reference number, which is on your bill)

  • Your 10-digit LPG customer number (you can find this on your bill)

To set up or change your Centrepay deductions you can use the myGov app, Express Plus Centrelink app or contact Services Australia directly.
If you'd like us to cancel or suspend your Centrepay deductions, you can contact us and we'll take care of it for you.
