You can register any life support equipment that’s fuelled by electricity or gas (or by metered LPG in South Australia), if a registered medical practitioner certifies it’s required for a person residing at your supply address.

List of eligible life support equipment types
Here are some types of life support equipment you can register. Please note, these are examples of life support equipment types – it's not a complete list.
Breathing
Apnoea monitors
Continuous positive airways pressure respirator (PAP device) (all electricity customers and SA metered LPG customers)
Oxygen concentrators (all electricity customers and SA metered LPG customers)
Ventilators (formerly known as 'respirator' or 'iron lung') (all electricity customers and SA metered LPG customers)
Pumps
Enteral feeding pumps (kangaroo pump, or total parenteral nutrition)
External heart pumps
Insulin pumps
Suction pumps (respiratory or gastric)
Dialysis
Intermittent peritoneal dialysis machine (all electricity customers and SA metered LPG customers)
Kidney dialysis machine (all electricity customers and SA metered LPG customers)
Heating and cooling
Hot water
Medically required heating and air conditioning (all electricity customers and SA metered LPG customers). For LPG SA, you must be eligible for the medical heating or cooling concession to register this type of life support equipment)
Medically required refrigeration
Phototherapy
Crigler-Najjar syndrome phototherapy equipment
Phototherapy equipment
Other
Airbed vibrator
Nebuliser, humidifiers or vaporizers (all electricity customers and SA metered LPG customers)
Power wheelchair (does not include mobility scooters)
Concessions and rebates
Electricity customers: If you’re the primary account holder and you hold a valid concession card, you may be eligible for a government life support concession or rebate for your energy bills. To find out more and how to apply, head to Concessions and rebates
