How to Manage Campaign Mappings

Campaign Mappings allow you to manually link your ad platform campaigns with metrics from third-party analytics and data tools like GA4, Adjust, or BigQuery to ensure flawless data integration.

Overview

Orphex automatically blends cost data from your ad networks with performance metrics from your tracking providers. However, differences in campaign naming conventions or missing UTM parameters can sometimes prevent these systems from matching automatically. When this happens, vital metrics like revenue, sales, or app events fail to populate in your dashboard.

Campaign Mappings empower you to bridge this gap manually. By explicitly telling Orphex which tracking source belongs to which ad campaign, you can instantly restore missing performance data down to the Campaign and Ad Group levels.

Once mapped, your offline, web, or app-based conversion metrics will align perfectly alongside your ad spend, giving you:

  • Complete visibility over your true ROAS and CAC.

  • Accurate cross-platform performance summaries.

  • Retroactively fixed data gaps caused by naming inconsistencies.

When Do You Need a Campaign Mapping?

You should utilize manual campaign mapping whenever you notice a misalignment between your ad spend and your business outcomes.

Situation

Example

Missing App Conversion Data

Your Meta Ads are running smoothly, but app sales or installs tracked via Adjust are showing as zero in Orphex.

Mismatched Web Analytics

A Google Ads campaign has a slight typo in its name compared to how it was tracked in GA4, breaking the automatic sync.

Offline or Custom CRM Data

Revenue records stored in BigQuery cannot be automatically paired with your paid search campaigns due to non-standard tracking IDs.

Accessing Campaign Mappings

  1. Go to Settings → Custom Definitions.

  2. Scroll to the Campaign Mapping section.

  3. You will see individual tracking lines for your integrated platforms (such as Google Analytics, Adjust, or BigQuery) marked as Not Set if they require manual attention.

  4. Click the Edit/Pencil Icon on the right side of the platform row you wish to configure.

Configuration & Mapping Steps

When the mapping modal opens, the basic logic is simple: Connect the Ad Platform name on the left with the correct Analytics identifier on the right.

1. Adjust

1. Adjust Mapping

For Adjust, you pair the campaign names directly.

  • Campaign Name (Left): The name as it appears on your ad platform.

  • Campaign (Right): Search and select the corresponding campaign name tracked by Adjust.

2. GA4 & BQ (BigQuery) Mapping

Because web analytics and raw data warehouses rely on traffic attributes, both GA4 and BQ require a 3-step alignment to ensure exact matching.

  • Campaign Name (Left): The name coming from your ad manager dashboard.

  • Source: Select the exact traffic Source value (e.g., google, facebook).

  • Medium: Select the matching traffic Medium value (e.g., cpc, paid_social).

  • Campaign Name (Far Right): Select the corresponding tracking campaign name.

How Data Changes Post-Mapping

After you map your campaigns and click Update, Orphex recalculates the connection between the datasets.

⚠️ Important: Manual mapping works retroactively. Once a rule is saved, historical records will be reprocessed, and missing values (like revenue or conversion counts) should begin populating in your performance tables shortly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are my conversion numbers still zero right after mapping?

Data reprocessing takes a short amount of time. If you have just updated your mappings, wait a few minutes and refresh your main dashboard. If historical data is vast, processing may take up to 24 hours to completely catch up.

What happens if I rename my campaign in the ad platform later?

If a campaign name changes drastically on the ad manager side, the manual rule you created may no longer find a match. You will need to come back to Settings → Campaign Mappings and update the link with the new name.

Can I map multiple ad campaigns to a single GA4 source/medium combo?

Yes. If you run multiple campaign test variations but want them all to sync into a combined tracking structure from GA4, you can map them accordingly. However, for precise ROAS tracking, keeping a 1:1 match is always recommended.
