Custom Dashboards allow you to build personalized cross-channel reports from the ground up, giving you complete control over your marketing canvas.

Overview

While Orphex provides pre-built layout templates for various marketing roles, building a dashboard from scratch gives you total creative freedom. You can design an empty canvas and add custom data blocks tailored precisely to your brand's unique analytics requirements.

By creating a customized panel, you can mix and match data types, apply complex filters, rearrange reports dynamically, and group your analysis using multi-tab layers.

Step 1: Initializing Your Blank Canvas

  1. Navigate to the Custom Dashboards section from your main left menu.

  2. Under the Templates tab, click on the Start from scratch / Create blank dashboard option.

Step 2: Creating Sections and Blocks

Once inside your new canvas, your dashboard layout is structured using Sections and Blocks.

  1. Click on the + New Section button to create a reporting area.

  2. Select your desired layout view grid to determine how many data block placeholders you want in this section.

Step 3: Configuring Block Settings (Must-Have Fields)

When you click on an empty block placeholder, the Block Settings modal will open. To successfully generate your data view, you must fill out the core configuration fields, while giving your block a recognizable title is highly recommended for clarity:

Field

Status

Description

Visibility (View Type)

Required

Choose how your data displays (e.g., choose Table or other available visual charts).

Level

Required

Select the operational layer for data tracking (e.g., Campaign, Adgroup, Ad, Asset, Creative Video, etc.).

Block Name

Optional

Give your specific chart or table a clear title (e.g., "Meta vs. Google Campaign Cost"). Leave blank to use default settings, but naming it is highly recommended to easily recognize your reports.

Step 4: Metrics, Dimensions, and Custom Tuning

Once the core parameters are set, you can customize the inner mechanics of your table or chart block.

1. Table Dimensions & Metrics (Required)

You must select the exact Dimensions (such as Channel, Campaign Name, Date) and Metrics (such as Spend, CTR, Conversions, ROAS) that you want to examine in this report block.

2. Layout & Sorting Options (Optional)

The lower parameters allow you to fine-tune your visualization style:

  • Sort Field: Choose a baseline metric to sort your table rows automatically.

  • Breakdown Column: Select a dimension to pivot or break down your columns further.

  • Row Count: Limit the number of records displayed at once.

3. Advanced Block Filters (Optional)

At the bottom of the block settings modal, you can add pinpoint restrictions using the Filter tool:

  • Click Filter and choose your target column (e.g., Campaign Name).

  • Choose a match operator (e.g., Contains, Is, Starts With, Regex).

  • Enter your criteria Value and click Apply to ensure this block only pulls specific sliced data.

Once you are satisfied with your block structure, click Complete to generate your block on the dashboard.

Step 5: Managing Layouts, Drag-and-Drop, and Tabs

After adding your blocks, you can seamlessly organize your dashboard workspace directly from the active canvas:

  • Drag and Drop Realignment: On the right-hand preview panel, you can click on any block block element and drag it up or down to reorganize its display order instantly.

  • Duplicating Tabs: If you want to replicate an entire layout configuration to test a different variation, click the three dots next to your active Tab label and select Duplicate. You can also Rename or Delete tabs from this menu.

⚠️ Crucial Step: Saving Your Dashboard

Building components on your canvas updates your live preview, but changes are not persistent automatically.

⚠️ Important: To permanently lock in your newly built dashboard, you must click the "Save" button in the top-right corner of the screen before navigating away. If you leave without saving, all configurations will be lost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change a block's level (e.g., from Campaign to Ad) after it's created?

Yes. You can click the Edit action button on any live block to bring back the Block Settings modal, switch the Level dropdown, and adjust your metrics/dimensions accordingly.

Is there a limit to how many tabs or sections I can add?

No. You can expand your dashboard with multiple tabs and sections to prevent a single page from becoming too cluttered. Using tabs is a great way to separate web data from mobile app statistics.

Can I turn my custom dashboard into a reusable template for my team?

Yes! Right next to the Save button in the top-right corner, you will find a Save As Template option. Saving it as a template allows your teammates to launch identical dashboards across other workspaces in seconds.

If your custom filters aren't pulling the expected records or you hit a styling roadblock, tap the support button in the bottom-right corner for quick help!
