Connecting Orphex gives your assistant a set of Orphex tools. Some work the moment you connect. Others read live from your ad platforms or change your ad accounts, and Orphex enables those one workspace at a time.
This article lists what is in each group, so you know what to ask for before you ask. For the setup steps, see Orphex for Claude or Orphex for ChatGPT.
What works the moment you connect
These answer from the reporting data Orphex has already built for your workspace. Nothing to switch on, nothing to request.
What you ask | What your assistant returns |
"What was my cost and ROAS last month?" | Your advertising metrics for any date range and breakdown |
"Which metrics can I ask for?" | The metric and dimension names valid in that workspace |
"Which workspaces can I read?" | The workspaces on this connection |
"Give me a summary of this workspace" | Connected platforms, data freshness, standing insight and anomaly counts |
"What should I look at this week?" | The insights Orphex has already produced |
"Did anything unusual happen?" | Detected anomalies |
"Do I have open alerts?" | Your active alerts |
"How am I scoring?" | Your scorecard results |
"Run an analysis for me" | The prepared Orphex analyses, and the one you pick |
"How should I read this metric?" | Orphex's analysis methodology and guide content |
"How are my creatives doing?" | Creative analysis, including breakdowns by segment |
"Send me the weekly summary" | Your weekly digest |
"What was the real impact of that change?" | The impact analysis summary |
These tools read data Orphex stores and prepares. Your assistant does not call Meta, Google Ads or TikTok to answer them, which is why they are served through yesterday rather than up to the minute.
Reading live from your ad platforms
These go to the ad platform at the moment you ask, so they show the account as it is right now – including entities created after Orphex last synced. Orphex does not enable live platform reads by default. Ask Orphex support to switch them on for your workspace.
What you ask | Where it works |
"Which ad accounts are connected?" | Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, GA4, Adjust, AppsFlyer |
"What is the current campaign and ad set structure?" | Google Ads, Meta, TikTok |
"What is the live performance right now?" | Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, GA4, Adjust, AppsFlyer |
"Pull a large report" (runs in the background) | Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, GA4 |
"What changed in this account, and who changed it?" | Google Ads, Meta |
"What is the platform recommending?" | Google Ads; Meta returns recommendations only |
"How is this account structured above the ad account?" | Google Ads |
"What are this campaign's settings?" | Google Ads |
"Which conversion goals is this account optimising for?" | Google Ads |
"What is the ad copy on this ad?" | Google Ads, Meta |
"What is this ad set configured to do?" | Meta |
"Which locations am I targeting?" | TikTok |
"Suggest new keywords" | Google Ads |
"How is my Performance Max campaign structured?" | Google Ads |
"Do I have experiments running?" | Google Ads |
Orphex connects six live sources for reading: Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, GA4, Adjust and AppsFlyer. Adjust and AppsFlyer are reporting sources only – Orphex does not make changes in either one. AppsFlyer also does not break results down by day, because its API returns one aggregate per period rather than a daily series.
Changing your ad accounts
Three ad platforms accept changes through Orphex: Google Ads, Meta and TikTok. Every change is previewed before it runs, and it runs only after you confirm it in the conversation. Orphex for Claude and Orphex for ChatGPT cover the preview-and-confirm flow, the limits Orphex enforces, and how to undo a change.

Two changes have a boundary worth knowing before you ask for them. Orphex does not create Performance Max campaigns – a Performance Max campaign needs an asset group to serve, and Orphex refuses the request rather than creating one that never runs. Orphex also does not create several campaigns in a single request; ask for them one at a time.
Why a change exists on one platform but not another
A dash in the change table above almost always means the platform has no such setting, rather than Orphex missing one.
A TikTok campaign has no schedule field at all, so there is no schedule for Orphex to write.
Keywords, negative keywords, device bid adjustments and ad schedules are Google Ads concepts. Meta and TikTok express none of them.
A shared negative keyword list is a Google Ads object that neither Meta nor TikTok has.
Ad copy sits on the ad itself only in Google Ads. A Meta ad points at a creative and a TikTok ad at an identity plus uploaded assets, so editing either one is a different job.
A Google Ads ad group carries no budget of its own, because the budget sits on the campaign above it.
Where each answer comes from
Orphex answers your assistant in two different ways, and the difference decides how current the numbers are.
Orphex-stored reporting. Metrics, insights, anomalies, scorecards, creative analysis and digests come from data Orphex has already collected and prepared from your connected ad accounts. This is served through yesterday, because today's numbers keep moving while the platforms are still reporting.
Live platform calls. Live platform reads and every change go straight to the ad platform's own API at the moment of the request. They reflect the account as it stands right now, which is why a change is checked against the live entity rather than against yesterday's report.
Why your tool list may differ from a colleague's
Your assistant lists only the tools your connection is allowed to use, so two people on the same team can see different lists.
Reporting tools are on every connection.
Live platform reads and changes are enabled by Orphex per workspace. Without that, they are absent from the tool list rather than failing when called.
Changes also need the editor role in that workspace. A viewer reads everything and changes nothing.
Your connection remembers what it was granted at sign-in. A connection made before Orphex enabled actions stays read-only until you sign in again from your assistant.
To see your own list, ask your assistant which Orphex tools it can use.
Frequently asked questions
Which Orphex tools work without asking Orphex for anything?
All the reporting tools – metrics, insights, anomalies, alerts, scorecards, creative analysis, guides, playbooks, the workspace summary, the weekly digest and the impact analysis summary. Live platform reads and changes are the ones Orphex enables per workspace.
Can my assistant read data straight from Google Ads or Meta?
Yes, once Orphex enables live platform reads for your workspace. Without that, your assistant answers from Orphex reporting data instead, which is served through yesterday.
Can my assistant change my keywords?
Yes, on Google Ads. Keywords and negative keywords do not exist as Orphex actions on Meta or TikTok, because neither platform has them.
Can my assistant rewrite my ad copy?
Yes, on Google Ads responsive search ads – headlines, descriptions, their pinning and the display paths. Meta and TikTok ads do not carry their copy on the ad itself, so Orphex does not edit it there.
Can my assistant create a Performance Max campaign?
No. A Performance Max campaign needs an asset group to serve, and Orphex refuses the request instead of creating a campaign that never runs.
Does this work with GA4, Adjust or AppsFlyer?
Yes for reading. Orphex reads accounts and performance from all three. Orphex does not make changes in GA4, Adjust or AppsFlyer.
Why does my assistant have fewer Orphex tools than my colleague's?
Because tools follow permissions. Live platform reads and changes are enabled per workspace, changes also need the editor role, and a connection made before actions were enabled stays read-only until you sign in again.
Is this the same as the Orphex assistant inside the product?
No. The tools your assistant gets through the connection are a separate set with their own permissions. What Orphex's in-product assistant can do is decided separately.
