When you ask your assistant a question about your advertising, Orphex answers it in steps rather than in one call. A question about performance becomes several reads. A change to your ad account becomes a preview you approve, then a separate confirmation.
This article explains why, what each step costs you in time, and which steps are permanent.
Why one question takes several steps
Orphex gives your assistant a set of tools rather than one answer. Your assistant picks a tool, reads the result, then decides what to ask next.
A single question usually turns into a handful of reads. Two examples measured on real accounts:
What you ask | Reads it takes |
"Find potential improvements in my GA4 account" | 8 reads: the property, the field catalog, three breakdowns, the conversion definitions |
"Summarise my Meta campaigns from last week" | 8 reads: the ad account, the campaign list, performance per campaign |
More detail means more reads. A second platform, a second breakdown or a deeper drill each add their own.
This is why an answer arrives in waves rather than instantly, and why asking one focused question is faster than asking for everything at once.
Reading data changes nothing
Every Orphex read is read-only. A read looks up reporting data or reads a live setting from your ad platform, and it writes nothing back.
That includes the reads that describe changes. Asking "what would happen if I paused this campaign" is a read: it reports the campaign's current state and whether the change would be accepted, and the campaign keeps running exactly as it was.
A read that is refused also changes nothing. If your assistant asks for a breakdown too large to return in one response, Orphex refuses it and switches to a background report rather than returning partial numbers.
How a change is approved
Every change runs in two steps, and both are visible in the conversation.
Preview. Your assistant proposes the change. Orphex validates it, reads the current values from the ad platform, and returns a before-and-after preview. Nothing has reached the platform at this point.
Confirm. You approve, and the confirmation executes the proposal that was previewed. This is the only step that changes your ad account.
The confirmation is bound to the preview you saw, so the change that runs is the change you read.
Two deadlines apply to the preview. The confirmation is valid for 15 minutes. The request itself stays open for 24 hours, so if the 15 minutes pass, your assistant requests a fresh confirmation on the same preview instead of starting over.
If your workspace requires a second person to sign off, the preview waits for that approval before it can be confirmed. Ask your assistant what is outstanding and it lists the requests waiting on a decision.
Checking a change before you ask for it
Orphex has a rehearsal step for most changes. It answers eligible, blocked or unknown, and it changes nothing.
The rehearsal is worth knowing about because it catches the platform's own rules before anything is written. A real example from a Meta account: an ad set was refused because the campaign above it owned the budget, so the ad set was not allowed to carry its own. Two refusals found that before anything was written, and neither touched the account.
An eligible verdict is not an approval. The preview re-runs every check, because the account may have moved in between.
What creating a campaign actually involves
Creating a campaign is not one change. On Meta it is four separate previews and four separate confirmations:
Step | What it creates |
1 | The campaign |
2 | The ad set under it |
3 | The creative in your ad account library |
4 | The ad that joins the ad set to the creative |
Everything Orphex creates is born paused. A new campaign does not spend and does not serve until you ask for it to be activated, which is a further change with its own preview and confirmation.
Orphex does not create several campaigns in one request. Ask for them one at a time.
There is also a daily allowance on how many objects one workspace creates through Orphex. When it is spent, the rehearsal reports the request as blocked rather than returning a remaining count.
Deleting is permanent
⚠️ A delete confirmed through Orphex is not reversible. The ad platforms publish no restore, and re-creating the same object gives it a new id.
Two consequences worth knowing before you ask for a delete:
Deleting a campaign takes its ad sets and ads with it. The preview counts the children first and names how many are active.
Deleting a campaign does not delete its creative. A Meta creative belongs to the ad account library rather than to the campaign, so it stays behind as an unused asset and is removed separately.
If the history is worth keeping, ask to archive the campaign instead of deleting it. Archiving keeps it out of your working set without removing it.
⚠️ A delete preview is Orphex's own live read of the target rather than the ad platform's verdict. Orphex does not send the platform a validation pass on a delete, so the platform judges the request only when you confirm it.
Current limitations
Orphex does not change anything without your confirmation in the conversation. A preview on its own never reaches the ad platform.
Orphex does not undo a delete. There is no restore on Google Ads, Meta or TikTok.
Orphex does not activate what it creates. New campaigns, ad sets and ads are paused until you ask for them to run.
Orphex does not create more than one campaign per request.
Orphex does not make changes in GA4, Adjust or AppsFlyer. Those three are reporting sources only.
Orphex does not accept a confirmation older than 15 minutes. The preview stays valid for 24 hours, but the confirmation itself is reissued.
Troubleshooting
Message | Meaning | Fix |
The confirmation has expired | More than 15 minutes passed between the preview and your approval. | Ask your assistant to reissue the confirmation. The preview is unchanged. |
A request is already awaiting approval | An earlier preview for the same change is still open. | Ask what is outstanding, then approve or discard that request instead of proposing a second one. |
Actions are disabled for this workspace | Changes are not switched on for the workspace you named. | Contact Orphex support to enable them, or name a workspace where they are on. |
The daily create allowance is spent | The workspace has created its maximum number of objects through Orphex today. | Wait for the next day, or create the remaining objects in your ad platform. |
The platform rejected this payload | The ad platform refused the change on its own rules, and the message names the field. | Read the named field, adjust it and ask again. A budget on an ad set under a campaign-budget campaign is the common one. |
The result is too large to return | The breakdown you asked for is wider than one response carries. | Let your assistant run it as a background report, or narrow the date range or breakdown. |
The reference has expired | The internal handle for an account or entity lived out its 15 minutes. | Ask again. Your assistant re-reads the account and continues. |
Frequently asked questions
Does asking about a change make the change?
No. Asking what a change would do is a read. Only a confirmation you give writes to your ad account.
Why does my assistant ask me twice?
It does not ask twice for the same thing. The first message is the preview and the second is your confirmation, which is the step that runs it.
How long do I have to confirm?
The confirmation is valid for 15 minutes. The request stays open for 24 hours, so a fresh confirmation can be issued on the same preview after that.
Can I confirm something I did not see previewed?
No. The confirmation carries the previewed proposal, so a change that was never previewed has nothing to confirm.
Will a new campaign start spending as soon as it is created?
No. Everything Orphex creates is paused. Spending starts only after a separate activation you approve.
Can I get a deleted campaign back?
No. Deleting is permanent on all three platforms. Ask to archive it instead if you may want it later.
Why does one summary take several steps?
Because each read answers one part of the question and the next read depends on the last. A narrower question needs fewer reads.
Does a refused request change anything?
No. A refusal means the ad platform or Orphex declined the request before it was written.
