What's the difference between repair and replacement?

Updated this week

Objective criteria help you make the right decision:

Choose REPAIR when:

  • System is under 10 years old

  • Only one component needs fixing

  • Repair cost is under 30% of replacement cost

  • System has been regularly maintained

  • Efficiency is still reasonable

  • No other major issues anticipated

Choose REPLACEMENT when:

  • System is over 15 years old

  • Multiple major components failing

  • Repair costs exceed 50% of replacement value

  • Energy bills have increased significantly

  • System uses R-22 refrigerant (being phased out)

  • Frequent repairs becoming pattern

Our recommendation process:

  • Show you both options with honest cost comparison

  • Explain 5-year total cost of ownership for each option

  • Present payback period for replacement efficiency gains

  • Let you decide based on your financial priorities

We make zero commission difference between repair and replacement. Your decision is based on facts, not our profit motive.
