Step 1: Charge or Install Batteries

If your Matrix model is rechargeable:

  1. Place both devices in the charging case, aligning the contacts.

  2. Plug in using the included cable.

  3. Allow 2–3 hours for a full charge before first use.

If your Matrix model uses disposable batteries:

  1. Open the battery door on each device.

  2. Insert the appropriate battery size (check your model's guide — typically size 312 or 13).

  3. Close the battery door firmly. The device will power on automatically.

Step 2: Select Your Ear Tips

  • Try the medium dome first.

  • Insert by pulling the outer ear gently upward and back, then placing the dome in the ear canal.

  • The fit should feel secure with no pressure pain. Try other sizes if needed.

Step 3: Power On

  • Rechargeable models: Power on automatically when removed from case.

  • Battery models: Close the battery door to power on.

  • You'll hear a confirmation tone in both ears.

Step 4: Bluetooth Pairing

  1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.

  2. For iPhone: Go to Settings → Accessibility → Hearing Devices.
For Android: Go to Settings → Connected Devices → Pair New Device or Accessibility → Hearing Aids.

  3. Your Matrix aids should appear in the list. Tap to pair.

  4. Follow any on-screen prompts.

  5. Download the Matrix companion app if available for your model.

Step 5: Adjust and Explore

  • Use the physical button or the companion app to cycle through listening programs (e.g., quiet, noisy environment, TV streaming).

  • Start in a comfortable, quiet setting for your first few hours.

  • Allow yourself 1–2 weeks to fully acclimate to amplified sound — this is completely normal.

Getting the Most Out of Your Matrix Aids

  • Clean ear tips and domes regularly (see our Cleaning and Maintenance article).

  • Store in their case when not in use.

  • Keep away from moisture unless your model is rated water-resistant.
