Proper care extends the life of your hearing aids and keeps them performing at their best. Here's a daily and weekly routine to follow.
Daily Care
After removing your hearing aids each day:
Wipe the exterior gently with a clean, dry cloth or the cleaning cloth included in your kit.
Inspect the sound outlet (the small opening where sound comes out) for earwax buildup. Use the cleaning brush to gently remove any debris.
Place in the charging case with the lid open briefly to air out before closing — this helps prevent moisture buildup.
Weekly Care
Once a week, do a more thorough cleaning:
Ear Tips and Domes
Remove the ear tip or dome from the hearing aid.
Wash with mild soap and lukewarm water.
Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before reattaching. Never reattach wet tips.
Replace ear tips every 4–6 weeks or when they show wear or discoloration.
Wax Guards (if applicable to your model)
Wax guards are small filters that prevent earwax from entering the receiver.
Check them weekly for blockage.
Replace when visibly blocked or when sound seems muffled — typically every 2–4 weeks depending on your wax production.
Replacement wax guards should be available through your device's manufacturer.
What to Avoid
Never use water, alcohol, or cleaning sprays directly on the hearing aid body.
Never use cotton swabs inside the sound port — they can push wax deeper.
Keep hearing aids away from extreme heat (car dashboards, direct sunlight, hair dryers).
Avoid exposing non-waterproof models to sweat, rain, or humidity beyond normal use.
Storage
When not in use, store in the charging case with the lid closed.
If you're not using them for an extended period, remove batteries (battery models) to prevent corrosion.
