Take the following steps to adjust your Apple device to properly delete e-mails off of the server when deleting an e-mail:
Tap Settings.
Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap the IMAP account.
Tap Advanced.
Tap Deleted Mailbox.
Under On the Server, tap Trash.
