Multiple Conversion Definitions on the Ad Group Level FAQ
Multiple Conversion Definitions on the Ad Group Level FAQ
Updated over a month ago

Will my ad group perform worse if I apply multiple Conversion Definitions to it?

No. The ad group will likely perform better since multiple Conversion Definitions feed our algorithm more data and allow it to better understand the user conversion funnel for your specific case. The algorithm will then decide amongst the range of different selected events and optimize towards the preferred event.

What happens if two of my events render the same pixel event?

If that happens in the long run, it indicates that there is an error with the funnel. This is because each step of the funnel should result in a significant dropoff in the number of event triggers. Address this by rechecking the assigned Conversion Definitions on the Ad Group level.

Will I waste my budget if I benchmark the new and the old approach by creating two ad groups?

No. The Outbrain DSP algorithm operates so that every conversion event is collected and contributed to any future optimization and is not merely connected to the ad group itself. Both ad groups will perform better in the long run because of the data being shared.

How do multiple Conversion Definitions on the ad group apply to me if I’m an API user?

If you migrated to the new Maximize Conversions API flow introduced in September 2022, you are all set. You can now send multiple events in the CPA Conversion Definitions array. If you are still using the Early Access CPA functionality, we recommend transitioning to the new Maximize Conversions API flow, as this functionality is not supported in the Early Access CPA UI and API calls.

Can I proceed with the old single CD approach?

Yes. You can simply place a single Conversion Definition per ad group.
