Many of our clients currently use the Outbrain DSP dashboard to run multiple campaigns with dozens of ad groups per campaign. Monitoring performance and ensuring your advertising budget is spent on all your campaigns is a demanding task in terms of time and resources. To combat this, DSP’s Automation Rules tool uses automation to help you better manage your campaigns in less time and with fewer resources.
Check out the example below to learn how to easily automate different actions for your Outbrain DSP campaigns.
Example: Increasing Ad Group Daily Budget by 20% When CPA to Goal CPA Ratio Is Less Than 1 on the Last Day
1. Click on “Automation rules” and select “Create rule”.
2. Name your rule in the “Rule name” field.
3. Select on which level (Account, Campaign(s) or Ad Group(s)) this rule should execute.
4. In the Set action for your rule "Action" field, choose Ad Group – Increase ad group daily budget by percentage.
5. Define the Increase of the daily budget by setting the value to 20%.
6. Set action frequency to “Every day”.
7. Click “+ Add condition”.
8. In the first drop-down field, search for “CPA to Goal CPA Ratio.”
9. Select the value “is less than” and insert “1” in the value field (meaning that the rule will run if the ratio of CPA to Goal CPA is less than 1).
CPA to Goal CPA ratio > 1 (Goal not met - invest less, optimize ad group settings)
CPA to Goal CPA ratio = 1 (Goal is met)
CPA to Goal CPA ratio < 1 (Goal is met and exceeded)
10. Select the conversion definition that you want to use with the 3-dot menu.
11. Set “Time range” to “Last Day.”
12. (Optional) Set up custom notifications when the rule performs and define who should receive the notification.
13. (Optional) Expand advanced settings and define the scope of the automation rule.
14. Save your rule.
15. Navigate to the Rules library through the management console to double-check the setup, and you’re all set!
